How we protect you and your information
We handle your personal and health information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), the Australian Privacy Principles and the Psychology Board of Australia's Code of Conduct.

Confidentiality and its limits
What you share in sessions is confidential. We won't disclose it without your consent, except where the law requires or allows it, such as:
- when there is a serious risk to your safety or someone else's
- when a child or young person may be at risk of harm
- when records are subpoenaed by a court
- when you've agreed to us sharing information, such as a report to your GP under Medicare
We discuss clinical work in de-identified form in professional supervision, which is a standard part of safe practice.
What we collect and why
We collect your contact details, Medicare and funding details, referral information and clinical notes. We use them to provide and coordinate your care and to process payments and rebates.
How your records are stored
Records are kept in a secure, Australian-hosted practice management system with restricted access. Under Queensland requirements, we keep adult records for at least 7 years after your last contact. For young people, we keep them until they turn 25.
You can ask to see or correct your records at any time.
Cancellation and missed appointments
Please give at least 24 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule. Late cancellations (less than 24 hours’ notice) incur a $100 fee, and no-shows incur the full session fee. Medicare doesn’t rebate these fees. We send a confirmation text 48 hours before each appointment. If you have concerns about a fee, please call our office.
Telehealth
We use an encrypted, health-grade video platform. We ask you to join from a private space and to let us know where you are at the start of each session, in case of an emergency. Sessions are never recorded.
Email, SMS and communication
We use email and SMS for appointment reminders and admin only. Please don't use them for urgent matters or detailed personal information. Our inbox isn't monitored after hours.
Young people and consent
For clients under 18, we usually seek parental or guardian consent. A young person who is assessed as mature enough to understand their treatment may consent for themselves. We'll explain what is and isn't shared with parents at the start.
Feedback and complaints
We welcome feedback. Please speak with your clinician or our Practice Director first. If you're not satisfied, you can contact the Office of the Health Ombudsman (Queensland) on 133 646 or the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner for privacy matters.
